Minutes from the 5th Blackcats Reunion

The 213th Assault Support Helicopter Company Alumni Association met at the AirPort Marriott, in Phoenix, Arizona. The Association meeting was held on June 22, 2006. Officers present at the meeting were Terry Sanderlin’ President; George Haley, Treasurer; Mike Brown, Historian; Thomas Hoopes, Membership Coordinator and Foster Sexton, Secretary. Association Members present were Steven Craft, Rodger Fetters, (John Hutchinson, stopped by a visit on Friday), John Jacobs, Bill Lawless, Sam Parrish and Bruce Vining,

 

The meeting was called to order by the President, Terry Sanderlin and opened the floor for old business: None was discussed.

 

New Business/Issues:

 

Registrar’s Report:      June 2006, total paid members (20), Life Time Members (11).

 

The President Terry Sanderlin introduced the position of Fund Raising Director, Membership Coordinator, Webmaster and Editor Position.  These positions and issues were discussed by the body, voted on and approved for Association.

 

Fund Raising Director: Would develop fund activities and solicit donations for the Association.

 

Webmaster: Would evaluate, correct and update the website (approximately 1 hour, 4 times a year). This could be an appointed position by the president and a fee for services. Mike Brown stated that there is a problem at our website 213thblackcat.com, when clicking on picture documents, the program sees it as a word document and will not open it. This would be an issue for the webmaster.

 

Membership Coordinator: Would contact and solicit new members who served in the 213th.

 

Editor Position: Would edit all data that is to go on-line or the website.

 

The selection of a person to fill the position of Webmaster to care for the Black Cat website was discussed by the body with no one having a name for nomination. The entire body will search a qualified individual for this position.  Rodger Fetters stated that he would check with his son to see if he could be of help. Other members were also encouraged to assist in locating of such a person for computer assistance for the website. Web Security will be discussed and addressed with the Webmaster once one is onboard.

 

 

Mike Brown stated that the Black Cat’s PX price for all Caps is $9.60, XXL T Shirts- $18.06 and other sizes $16.00.  All attendees were given a free Black Cats and Summit Racing Caps for attending the reunion. Mike further stated that the T Shirts ordered by member who did not come to the Reunion would be mailed to them at their cost for shipment. All caps left over will be sold on-line.

 

 

 

The Officers in the present positions were recommended by President Terry Sanderlin and seconded by Thomas Hoopes to be reelected to Office:

3. Historian-                            Mike Brown

4. Alumni Registrar-             Thomas Farley

5. Secretary-                           Foster Sexton

 

Since he has been very busy working to get more new members onboard, Thomas Hoopes was recommended for Membership Coordinator by Mike Brown and seconded by Sam Parrish. The vote was a unanimous yes.

 

The issue of how often the Blackcats should our reunions was places on the floor by the President. Mike Brown recommended that we have it every 2 years (with VHCMA reunion); it was seconded by Rodger Fetters and carried by a voice vote. It was further stated by the president that if we wanted to have one back to back, we could vote on it at the appropriate time.

 

Bulk Emailing:

President Sanderlin stated that due the size of the email list that it would need to divided in small groups for the present members’ to mail out. However, Mike Brown stated that he have all of the members who have email addresses tagged for bulk mailing and upon notice that he could sent the information out them with little effort.  Mike will be used for Bulk mailing to the Association.

 

Alumni On-line meeting:

President Terry Sanderlin recommended and approved that the Alumni should have an on-line meeting in January 07 with the date and the time will be set at a later date (through the Black Cat Chat Room).

 

Awards:

Black Cat Service Awards were passed to individuals for there outstanding service and actions displayed for the Association and Members: (Will be presented at Banquet before dinner)
